Defenses

Planetary defense units („defenses“) are constructed in shipyards on the surface of a planet or moon to defend it against attacking fleets.

When under attack, defenses are assisted by any allied ships or fleets in orbit.

Interceptors („Araks“) are also defensive units but are only used to destroy incoming enemy Interplanetary missiles („Iraks“ or „IPRs“) which in turn can only be used against defense units.

Unlike buildings, defenses do not occupy the finite fields of a planet and can be built without limit.1)

Unlike ships, defenses cannot move and therefore cannot be saved.

After an attack (whether win, loss, or draw), 70% of destroyed defense units are instantly rebuilt.
It might take multiple attack waves to reduce an enemy's defenses enough to start winning battles.
TrashSim can be used to simulate multiple attack waves.
