Combustion Drive

Combustion drives are based on the ancient principle of recoil. Highly heated matter is expelled and propels the ship in the opposite direction. The efficiency of these drives is rather low, but they are cheap, reliable and require little maintenance. They also take up less space and are therefore repeatedly found especially on smaller ships. Since combustion drives are the foundation of all spaceflight, they should be researched as early as possible. Further development of these drives makes the following ships 10% of their base value faster per level: Small and Large Cargo Ships, Light Fighters, Recyclers and Espionage Probes.
