Espionage probes are small, agile drones that deliver data about fleets and planets over great distances. Their high-performance drive allows them to cover long distances in a matter of seconds. Once they arrive in orbit around a planet, they remain there briefly to collect data. During this time they are relatively easy for the enemy to detect and attack. To save space, armor, shields and weapons were omitted, which makes the probes easy targets once they have been discovered.
